Charlotte SHOUT! Returns This Month. Here’s What’s New

WITHIN JUST A FEW YEARS, the sprawling Charlotte SHOUT! has emerged as one of the city’s premier festivals, garnering thousands upon thousands of visitors to Uptown Charlotte. On March 31, the multi-week effort returns, with 200+ installations, performances, events, and activations in tow. The event’s aim, organizers say, is to showcase “our community’s creativity, innovation, diversity, and resilience.”

This year’s Charlotte SHOUT! is presented by Atrium Health and Bank of America, and it does include some favorites from the past: the illuminated seesaws of “Impulse”; The Charlotte Ideas Festival; 80+ local musical acts at four different locations; the Charlotte StrEATs Festival; and surprise installations and activations among them.

As for what’s new this year: You’ll find those offerings below among a comprehensive list of offerings, as we dive into thee festival’s four pillars of Art, Food, Music, and Ideas. This is a living list, but you can find the most up-to-date information on the SHOUT! website.

One major musical component to know is Pianodrome, the first performance space in the U.S. made up entirely of upcycled pianos: The 75-seat structure will be housed inside the historic Grace on Brevard venue, and dozens of performances by local artists bring it to life during SHOUT!  You can also expect music across uptown throughout the week, including at Victoria Yards (209 E. 7th St.), with food vendors, and 10+ murals on repurposed shipping containers in tow. Click each event to discover more information.
