Nathalie man dies in two-vehicle wreck in Charlotte County

A 40-year-old Nathalie man, Shann A. Hannock, died at the scene of a two-vehicle crash that occurred Sept. 6 at 4:22 p.m. on Route 40 in Charlotte County, less than a mile east of Route 618, according to information released by Virginia State Police on Monday morning.

Hannock was traveling west on Route 40 in a 1995 Ford Mustang when it crossed the centerline as it came through a curve.

The Mustang entered the eastbound lane and struck head-on a tractor-trailer driven by 25-year-old Richard R. Stephenson of Charlotte Court-house. The tractor-trailer ran off the westbound side of the highway and struck the guardrail. The Mustang ran off the eastbound side of the highway.

Stephenson was not injured in the crash, according to state police.

State police also said Stephenson was wearing a seatbelt, but that Hannock was not.

The crash remains under investigation by Virginia State Police Trooper D. Spencer.
